Sarah is a third-year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology program. She earned her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Virginia, where she developed an interest in twin research through her work in the Genetics and Human Agency Lab. In her research at MSU, Sarah studies the role of genotype-environment interaction in the development of child and adolescent psychopathology. She is particularly interested in the effects of both the broader context (e.g., neighborhood poverty, crime) and characteristics of the family environment on youth mental health. Her long-term career goal is to be a faculty member conducting genetically informed research that focuses on environmental risk and protective factors. In her free time, Sarah enjoys salsa dancing, being outdoors, and spending time with her two cats, Francie and Laurie, who love her but are still learning to love each other.
